Art has been something I've loved and kept close to me since I was a toddler, but it wasn't until the tenth grade that I discovered it was what made up my core. I painted a 'wonder woman' version of Roy Lichtenstein's Blond Girl for an assignment, and realized then that art was something I was good at, and something I enjoyed every bit of. My style has changed immensely since then, but I will always remember where my journey began.
I attended UFT's Art and Art History program for 3 1/2 years, but ultimately decided to take a different path and am now working towards a commission-based model. My work consists mostly of oil paintings, along with acrylic paintings, digital illustrations, and occasionally photographs. I'm currently in an experimental era, trying new media and application techniques to see how I can further expand my style.

about the
My work explores the relationship between paint, colour, and emotions, the ideas usually spurring from personal experiences that are important to me. I experiment stylistically depending on the type of feeling I want the work to have, using expressive brushstrokes to help convey different meanings. Limited palettes are a commonality amongst my work, leading toward a more abstract use of colour and larger focus on qualities like texture and form.

My process typically begins with chaos and little direction. I start with a general idea in mind and map out the specifics of the work while painting. At a certain point, usually once the main elements are laid out, the work almost creates itself, and I let the painting guide me naturally. I allow myself to connect back to the subject matter, so that those emotions are felt and then immediately expressed on the surface, enriching my experience therapeutically, while also contributing greatly to my identity as an artist. My goal with each painting is to create an engaging piece that invites the viewer on an empathic journey that they can connect to.
